Landscape for Habitation (Architecture)

The project explores conditions of habitation through a design of a discrete building element – Universal Brick. With the bottom up approach of the project, the bricks are developed at the beginning and subsequently composed  and expanded to create architecture that deals with housing conditions. Therefore the priority is to create a building system that rethinks traditional construction methods rather than a response to a particular site.Sojkova_brick5_160530

Architectural ambitions:

  1. Predetermined patterns as generators of space
  2. Dynamic environment
  3. Discrete building units assembly into continuous channels for servicing

Chapters:

1.Discrete building unit design – Universal brick

–  development of the brick and first spatial experiments with the use of patterns when designing objects and architectural concepts

2.Architectural proposals for Buenos Aires

– exploration of typical conditions of the city and progression to architectural scale

3.Building design

– proposal for an apartment block developed from the bricks with attention to building envelope, structure and details

4.Merging architectural ambitions into inhabitable space design

– new spatial conditions achieved by applying the knowledge gained from abstract pattern compositions as well as problem solving approach in the building design
